Merel Zwarts (1989) is an artist, art pedagogue and researcher living and
working in Utrecht, NL.
In her artistic practice she explores collaborative creation and exchange
through different forms of pedagogical experiments and object making. In
response to and in collaboration with different environments, ecologies and
communities she creates workshops, interventions in public space,
prints or drawings to collectively imagine new structures
and relations around themes of living in a common(ing) world: food, self-
representation, languages and ecology.

She often works with children to question together the current status quo and imagining alternatives through collective creation. The projects stimulate children to gain agency in a world dominated by adults.

Currently Merel is part of artist collective The Outsiders.

On the side she works on her illustration label Poiretti Confetti
