Sterrenstof

Sterrenstof  investigated how constructions and textures can be used to build a utopian dreamscape in the shape of a mobile. By participating in this project, children were confronted with building; both formal and social structures were being built through the materials. The workshop was open for all children of Utrecht; whether children were born here or just arrived from all over the world, everybody was invited.  During the workshop, children gave shape to their ideas and fantasies, and every idea was worth hanging in the dreamscape mobile. The structure of the mobile made it impossible to hang only one piece. Therefor the participants depended on the collaboration with others to make the sculpture in balance. In addition, the materials used, all had their particular characteristics; soft foam, hard wood, long string, light fabric. This resulted in an exploration of form.  (Photo’s: Merel Zwarts & Anne Punt)
